Privacy policy

How MET — My Expense Tracker handles information when you use the Android app.

Effective date: October 29, 2026 · Last updated: October 29, 2026

MET is developed by Aman Junaid (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains what information may be processed through the app, why it is used, and the choices available to you. MET’s features are optional and some processing depends on which features you enable.

Information you enter

MET stores the financial records you create, such as transactions, account and category details, labels, budgets, scheduled payments, tracker entries, and settings. The app’s main records are stored in its local database on your device. We do not receive your complete local transaction database simply because you use MET.

SMS and message access

If you grant SMS permission and use SMS import, MET reads relevant messages to identify possible transaction details. SMS and parsed information can be stored locally so you can review, approve, edit, or discard proposed entries. The app also sends SMS parsing and discard diagnostics to Firebase services; parsing diagnostics may include message text, sender, extracted transaction details, and the signed-in account identifier, while discarded-message diagnostics mask digits in message text. When AI-based parsing is used, message text is sent to the configured AI service to produce extracted details. Review the prompt and the provider’s privacy terms before enabling or using these features. You can revoke SMS permission and disable SMS import in Android and MET settings.

Google services, backup, and spreadsheets

If you sign in or use Google Sheets, Drive, Android backup, or other Google integrations, information needed for that feature may be processed by Google under your Google account and Google’s terms and privacy policy. Spreadsheet export and import transfer the data you select or process in the linked spreadsheet. Backups contain app data and are written to the destination you configure; the destination provider may have its own terms and privacy practices.

AI assistant

If you use MET AI, the question you enter and relevant information needed to answer it may be sent to the configured AI provider. AI-generated responses can be inaccurate. Do not send information you do not want processed by that provider. AI features may be unavailable or differ by app version and configuration.

Diagnostics and app operation

MET uses Firebase services for app configuration, authentication-related functions, analytics, and diagnostic or operational events. Google Play may also process app installation and device information according to Google’s own terms. We use these services to operate, understand, and improve the app.

Sharing and service providers

MET does not sell your personal information. Information may be processed by the service providers described above when you use associated features, or disclosed when required by law or needed to protect users, the app, or our rights. Each provider’s handling is governed by its own privacy terms.

Retention and deletion

Local app data remains on your device until you delete it, clear the app’s data, uninstall MET, or restore another backup. Files or information held by Google, Firebase, AI providers, or another selected backup destination follow the applicable provider’s retention and deletion practices. Follow the account and data deletion instructions to remove local records or request help with account-related data. To ask about information associated with a service or request assistance, contact amaan.wamiq@gmail.com.

Your choices and security

You can control optional features through MET settings, Android permissions, your Google account, and the relevant service-provider settings. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Keep your device and backups protected and avoid sharing exported files publicly.

Children

MET is not designed to knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a service connected to MET, contact us so we can review the request.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as MET changes. The current version and effective date will appear on this page. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to amaan.wamiq@gmail.com.

Important: This policy describes app behavior found in the current code and public Google Play disclosures. The Play Console data safety form and service-provider configuration should be reviewed against the shipped release before this page is used as the official store policy.
