Delete data on your device
MET stores its main financial records locally on your Android device. You can delete this data yourself at any time, without contacting support.
- Open your device’s Settings.
- Go to Apps and select MET — My Expense Tracker.
- Open Storage or Storage & cache.
- Tap Clear data or Clear storage and confirm.
Setting names vary by Android version and device. Clearing only the cache does not delete your app records. You can also uninstall MET to remove its local app data.
What is deleted
Clearing app storage removes the local MET database and settings, including transactions, accounts, categories, labels, budgets, scheduled payments, tracker entries, and locally stored SMS import records.
This removes the records from MET on that device. They cannot be recovered from the cleared app storage. If you have a separate backup, restoring it may bring those records back, including after reinstalling MET.
Backups, exports, and connected services
Clearing storage or uninstalling MET does not delete separate backups, exported files, linked Google Sheets, or copies on other devices. Delete those separately from the location where you saved them, including Google Drive or another backup destination you chose.
If you used optional Google, Firebase, or AI features, those services may have processed account-related information, diagnostics, or content. Removing local app data does not automatically delete information held by those services. Their retention and deletion practices apply; see the MET privacy policy for details.
Request account-related data deletion
For help deleting information associated with your MET sign-in or connected services, email amaan.wamiq@gmail.com with the subject MET account and data deletion request. You can make this request without installing or opening the app.
- Send the request from the email address you used with MET, where possible.
- State whether you want account-related data deleted or need help deleting a particular backup or export.
- Do not include passwords, financial records, or SMS contents.
We may need to verify your request to identify the relevant information. We will explain what we can delete, any steps you need to take with a service provider, and any applicable retention period. Clearing MET’s local storage does not delete your Google account.
